Nutrition and health programs provided by FESCO — the Family Shelter

FESCO's basic services include:

  • Food
  • Clothing
  • Security
  • Medical
  • Serving three nutritious meals a day is a high priority for us. The evening meal is sometimes prepared by church and community volunteers. To maintain a comfortable environment, residents pitch in with the daily cleaning duties. About 19,000 meals are served annually.

Community donors help out by providing about $9,000 worth of food to the Shelter throughout the year.

Monthly, the Alameda County Health Van makes an on-site visit to treat and administer basic health care. A social worker accompanies the van to assist with providing additional resources that may be needed.
