The overriding goal of FESCO the Family Shelter is to serve homeless and very low income families. At FESCO, a "family" is defined by at least one parent accompanied by minor children. This approach is not meant to deny needs of adults, but it focuses on those most in need of the communitys care the children.
Approximately 200 children receive shelter from FESCO annually. Another approximately 300 children receive support services through FESCOs follow-up program for former Shelter residents, including:
Childrens developmental activities are provided regularly and frequently. Lots of activities are happening at the Shelter:
FESCO recently hired a part-time Children's Specialist; we're excited about the many new opportunities FESCO will be able to offer our children!
FESCO provides services for children at both the emergency Shelter and the Banyan House co-housing facility, including:
FESCO also works with other agencies to provide for family needs such as child care, Latchkey program for after-school care, and school enrollments.
