Two years of effort in collaboration with the Alameda County Housing and Community Development Department, the Housing Authority of the County of Alameda, and Abode Services will come to fruition this September, when FESCO's Third Street Apartments are converted from transitional housing to permanent supportive housing. Homeless families in which one or more members has a disability will be able to live indefinitely in these one-bedroom apartments and access support services through FESCO's case managers and mental health professionals. The families will pay 30% of their adjusted income toward their rent, with Housing Authority vouchers paying the balance. With this conversion, FESCO will offer the full range of services for homeless families: shelter, transitional housing, and permanent supportive housing. Join us for a celebration of the conversion on Friday, September 9, 2011, from three to 5 PM, at 22651 Third Street in Hayward.
