Adopt-a-Family 2007
Adopt-a-Family 2007 — the most traditional of our three events to help former Shelter residents over tough spots in the year is underway. Now in its 14th year, Adopt-a-Family is made possible by volunteers and generous community donors.
The goal is to provide a gift for each family member, and a generous food box, for every FESCO Family who needs help over the Holidays. Most FESCO Families have already been matched to donors, but there is still a need for many items, especially gift cards for groceries (Lucky and Safeway), gas and clothing (Target and Wal-Mart).
San Lorenzo Baptist Church has again offered to be the staging site for this support program. Drop-off of gifts and donations will occur December 13-14. All gifts will be distributed on Saturday, December 15.
This year we need to build a team of drivers with vans or other large-capacity, enclosed vehicles two people per vehicle. Gifts are delivered to homes throughout the East Bay, from Richmond to Livermore to Fremont and all points in between, including Hayward/ Castro Valley.
Teenage and Adult Volunteers also are needed at the distribution site to help receive gifts from donors and to help get drivers on their way on distribution day. If youd like to help make a needy familys holiday brighter, call Pamela Mead at 886-5498 or email her at pamelam@fescofamilyshelter.org.
Thank you!
